Monday night I had the privilege to listen to Anna Wintour (Editor of Vogue) speak about the beloved photographer Irving Penn. Penn was the photographer for Vogue Magazine for decades. He passed away recently and Anna came to speak to us at The Pratt Institute about his work. Everyone perceives Anna as being austere. At the end of her talk about her friendship and collaborations with Penn, you could sense the emotion building up and a tear come to her eyes. she was real.

Penn's body of work is incredibly beautiful. I urge everyone to do a little research.

Fashion PR rockstar Mauricio Padilha sits down for an Interview with Mr. Meaux

Q: WHO is MAO?

MAO is a company, we came up with the name because it was a nick name that my little brother Roger who owns the company with me used to call me when we were kids and it stuck. MAO does fashion public relations and fashion show production, we specialize in working with more forward , new and young fashion designers.

Q: WHAT is your philosophy of beauty?

My philosophy on beauty ...hmmmm...I appreciate what people commonly consider beauty...but personally I am more attracted to the off beat beauty in things, I see the beauty in an old building with graffiti, or a piece of clothing that is old and ripped up...pretty much everything is beautiful if you really look.

Q: WHO is your biggest inspiration in your work?

My biggest inspiration is a combination of a few people, Artist; Andy Warhol, Designer: Stephen Sprouse, Marilyn Monroe, Illustrator: Antonio Lopez to name a few...their visual work has inspired me more than anything in the world.

Q: Tell me more about the origin of MAO PR?

MAO PR started 12 years ago...Roger and I started it because we had so many young designer friends who were not able to get into press showrooms in NYC because press showrooms back then would not work with an unknown designer. So we decided to take them on as we love to work with the more creative and new talent that comes to us and get them the press and exposure that they deserve.

Q: What's new @ MAO?

Everyday there is something new going on at MAO... there are always new designers to meet with, new shows to produce and new dramas to deal with, LOL!

Q: When is the new MAO MAG coming out?

We are no longer doing MAO MAG...because of MAO MAG we were asked by Rizzoli to start doing books, so now we are under contract with Rizzoli to do books so it is an extension of MAO MAG that will reach more people around the world and be here forever! Our first book was The Stephen Sprouse Book...and it came out in 2009.

Q: ARE you a tranny?

HAHAHA...depends who you ask...but no I'm not... I love tranny's though, many of my friends are tranny's and I am attracted to them because they are trying to achieve an illusion that is an image of what they consider beauty...and I find that fascinating.

Q: WHAT are the Hot colors/shades for Summer?

I like Pink and Orange...together!

Q: WHAT do you find ugly about 2010?

Clubs with bottle service...so tacky...why pay $250 for a bottle of vodka that is $40 and people nowadays seem to think that if they buy bottle service that others in the club will think that they are kool and important and at the end of the day I think people need to find a different way to show that.

Q: WHO are you listening to RIGHT NOW?!

Madonna...I'm always listening to Madonna!!!

Celebrity make up artist, and dear friend, Beau Nelson is the creative visionary behind Beauté Cosmetics.

Q: WHO is beau nelson?

A farm boy who followed his dreams all the way to the big city.

Q: WHAT is your philosophy of beauty?

Beauty for me is very flexible. I think beauty is really about a feeling. What one person will feel beautiful wearing another will not. My own personal beauty preferences change and evolve all the time. Id describe my makeup style the same as I would describe my own personal style: Classic with an edge.

Q: WHO is your biggest inspiration in your work?

There are so many inspirations pulled from so many likely and unlikely places from people on the streets, to women like Carine Roitfeld and Iman, to classic photographs and old movies to even my assistants. If you keep your eyes open there is inspiration everywhere.

Q: What's new @ beauté?

Right now we are working on a ton of new products. We are currently very strong in lip products but will shortly be adding all manner of powder products to our lineup. Our labs are incredibly advanced and we are able to create amazing products with incredible textures and finishes. Its definitely a process, and Im a perfectionist, so Im really excited to be able to share these items with our fans.

Q: Where can we find it?

Q: ARE you a tranny?

No, but my friend Bryan wants to be one, he just doesn't have enough time to shave because hes too busy with school.

Q: WHAT are the Hot colors/shades for Summer?

Bronzers are always hot for Summer, but for color we are seeing a lot of brights with a focus on lips.

Q: WHO are you listening to RIGHT NOW?!

Everything But The Girl. I'm always listening to Everything But The Girl.

Q: WHO's your favorite artist?

Too many to choose from, and it would depend on the medium, but I like some of Warhols stuff (the shadow paintings), George Vergette, Richard Halliday, and Mathew Barney to name a few.

Q: WHO is your favorite architect?

Richard Neutra, Peter Marino does great retail work, and I like Yabu Pushelberg as well.

Q: WHO is your favorite musician?

Music is a huge influence on me, most of my makeup shade names are derivative of song titles or lyrics, so if you know my music tastes you can pick out where the names of my colors are from. Everything But The Girl as I mentioned before is high up on my list, so I guess Tracey Thorne and Ben Watts are two of my favorite artists.

Q: WHO is your favorite designer?

Alexander McQueen was an incredibly talented man... the clothes were so well constructed and incredibly complex. He was more like an architect than a designer to me. I also love Ricardo Tisci, Rick Owens, and I wear a lot from my friends Adrian and Diva who design Pleasure Principle.

Q: WHO has been your Best client? WORST?

I have amazing clients, and Ive only ever had one client that I didn't really like and even that person wasn't that bad. But I'll never tell who it was.

It was constructed entirely without the use of mortar. The aqueduct's stones – some of which weigh up to 6 tons – were precisely cut to fit perfectly together eliminating the need for mortar. The masonry was lifted into place by block and tackle with a massive human-powered treadmill providing the power for the winch. A complex scaffold was erected to support the aqueduct as it was being built. The face of the aqueduct still bears the mark of its construction, in the form of protruding scaffolding supports and ridges on the piers which supported the semicircular wooden frames on which the arches were constructed. Various inscriptions are found across the surface, containing instructions used in construction. For example, "FRS II" (frons sinistra II, Latin for "left face 2"), phallic symbols (intended to ward off bad luck), and graffiti left by builders throughout the ages. a la Wikipedia.
